Ingredients
For the dough:
2 cups warm milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 stick unsalted butter, melted
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
4 cups flour+1 cup
1 tsp baking powder
2 tsp salt
For the filling:
3/4 cup light brown sugar
3/4 cup butter, softened
2 tbsp ground cinnamon
For the frosting:
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
4 tbsp milk
- In a large bowl mix together the milk, sugar, butter, and yeast with a wooden spoon. Let sit for 10 minutes. Add flour. Let sit for 1 hour.
- In a small bowl combine the light brown sugar, butter, and cinnamon. Add flour, baking powder, and salt. Start kneading dough for 10 minutes. Roll out dough on floured surface until 1/2 inch thick.
- Speed sugar mixture evenly on top of the rolled out dough until smooth. Roll and cut into 1-2 inch thick pieces. Place multiple in greased pie pan. Let sit for 45 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
- In a medium-large bowl whisk together the vanilla, confectioners’ sugar, and milk. Drizzle over cinnamon rolls. Serve as desired.
Notes
Let yeast mixture sit in warm area so that it works better.
