Red Velvet Cake

Ingredients

2 2/3 cup cake flour
3 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup vegetable oil
1 tsp white vinegar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk
1/4 tsp red gel food coloring


  1. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Whist together.
  2. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Add vegetable oil, white vinegar, and food coloring. Alternating, add the milk, dry ingredients, and butter mixture together.
  3. Divide batter between two 8 inch greased cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Let cool.
