Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cup white sugar
1 stick room-temperature butter
5 egg whites
3/4 cup whole milk
1/4 shortening
1/4 tsp almond extract
2 tsp vanilla extract
2tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
1/4 cup rainbow sprinkles
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl until combined. Set to the side.
- In a separate bowl cream together the butter, shortening, and sugar. Beat until light and fluffy. Add in your egg whites, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
- Alternate mixing together the milk, dry ingredients, and butter mixture until combined. Fold in rainbow sprinkles until evenly incorporated.
- Evenly place batter into 3 greased 6 inch cake pans. Cook at 350 degrees for about 30-35 minutes.
Notes
Add in egg whites one at a time to ensure the butter does not get too cold.
