Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup cocoa powder
2 1/4 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 1/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup light brown sugar
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 1/4 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
6 oz chocolate, melted


  1. In a large bowl whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
  2. In a separate bowl cream together the butter and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla extract. Slowly add chocolate. Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk.
  3. Divide batter between 3 8 inch greased cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes. Let cool. Decorate as desired.

Notes

When you add the chocolate you want to make sure that its melted to ensure it doesn’t cook the eggs and melt the butter.
